Practice Billing Policy

The fees at the Practice are set by the doctors and are reviewed periodically according to the consensus between doctors and staff in a clinical meeting.  

An up-to-date copy of our schedule of fees is displayed at the reception.

All consultations must be paid at the time of consultation.

To assist in making an informed decision about their health care, patients must be informed of the cost of care provided by our practice.

Costs may include the following:

  • Brief, standard and longer consultations
  • Late or missed appointments
  • Procedures
  • Medical Check ups
  • Care outside our practice’s normal opening hours.

GPs and clinical staff advise patients of additional costs before treatments, investigations or procedures are performed by our practice. Additional costs may include the following:

  • Excisions
  • Sutures
  • Mirena/Implanon insertion
  • Commercial Drivers Licence Medical Check up
  • Occupational Health checks and investigations including ECG, Spirometryetc
  • Health Check ups for Insurance
  • Medical Reports
  • Whole body skin Checks

Private and mixed billing

Bulk Billing patients- Only Permanent Patients are eligible for bulk billing. This includes Pensioners, Concession Card Holders, Veteran Gold card Holders, ATSI, Permanente Patients with chronic health diseases who are on care plans and children

All non permanent patients and visitors are charged on a casual rate.

Payment can be made via EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash. All new patients must be told that payment is required at the time of consultation and our fee structure explained, including potential out of pocket costs.

Scheduled Home visits are available only for the patients belonging to the practice according to the discretion of the General Practitioner. They are normally bulk billed

Nursing Home visits are bulk billed

Afterhours visits by the doctors in Grace Family Practice attract a standard minimum fee of $500

Medical and Surgical Procedures – The procedures are bulk billed for the pensioners, children and veterans who belong to the practice. There is a Private fee for non pensioners and non permanent patients. All procedures must be paid for at time of consultation.

If the staff are unsure about what to bill for a consultation or a procedure, the doctor who attended the patient must be consulted and the correct item and fee billed.
